This is the layout I did for the third week of the Stuck?! CT call. I have been setting this picture aside for a long time, wanting the perfect papers and embellies for it.. and it finally just all came together. This is one of my favorite pictures of Patrick.. I love the motion of it (darn I miss that Minolta camera!!)
This is the first time I have used the fragments (by Tim) that I bought at the crop last December.. definitely will be needing more of those.. they are SO cool!

Papers and the square eyelet are from We R Memory Keepers. Grungeboard and fragments from Tim. The rubon (on the blue fragment) is from Basic Grey. I believe the orange metal piece is AMM. The chipboard (summertime) is Lil Davis. The metal star is Karen Foster. The yellow star button is Debbie Mumm. Inks from Stazon and CTMH. Paint is from Plaid. The dimensional happy embellishement is DCWV. Stamp used for the journal box is Stampabilities.

The title letters are grungeboard, painted with orange ink (that I mixed myself, since I didn't have any), then inked with StazOn. I also sanded the top lightly to make the stazon not so bright.

This layout was also an exercise in frugality... the center piece and the dotted circle are from the same piece of paper! I also cut a circular piece out from the base page to use under the fragments. I only used 2 pieces of paper for this layout!

Dancing dogs

You wouldn't think that dogs could dance... but oh, they can..

My mom sent me the link to this video.. it is someone that she knows through the net, and through a group that has some of the most wonderful dogs in the world. Bluecroft My Blue Heaven (Chandi) is a non-registered border collie, a working collie, and was rescued from a shelter. Tina and Chandi are amazing - just watch the video, and you will see what I mean. Everytime I see this, it brings tears to my eyes. And it makes me miss Holly that much more..

Love these great Fall ATC's! Your giveaway will bring many smiles to whomever wins it, I'm sure! My favorite tradition was going to Aunt Bessie's to trick or treat - we always had to make our way through her awesome spook alley to find the pot of treats back in the back of her house ... she was always the "witch" in the neighborhood, even into her 80's. Still brings a smile to my face. :)

Letters to Scrap By

I had found this new blog challenge - Letters to Scrap By. Each week, they will be posting a new challenge - based on a letter of the alphabet. I missed the first challenge {and still haven't gone back and done it}, which was A = Amethyst.

The second challenge was B = Black - use a black background for your layout.

I did this one twice, because I loved the challenge, and I was having so much fun at the crop last weekend.

Well, I found out yesterday that I won the B challenge! hooray! I won a gift certificate to the Scrap Attack store, which just rocks. Lauri has the mystery boxes again, and the GC will make it a lot easier to get one! (and this time she has embellishment boxes, including Basic Grey!!)

Halloween blog party, fall atcs, and a RAK

These are some fall atc's I made. They didn't turn out quite what I had expected, but I still think they are pretty cool!

Leaves were made with EK success punches from yellow, light orange, orange, red, barn red, and kraft papers. Edges were inked (that is what took the longest!) and folded slightly to add dimension. The base of the card was made from kraft paper. The stamps are partial images from a wonderful tree stamp that I have. Leaves were attached with Zip Dry. Weeds were drawn in with a Bic marker.

The fabulous letter stamps are from Upsy daisy designs (Rock On). I received these as a prize from the crop a few weekends ago at Savvy N Sassy. (I also received some awesome pink ribbons and things)

Went to a Bingo night by a couple of CTMH consultants.. wonderful projects. Also picked up some older stamp sets, a chocolate ink pad, and a white daisy reinker, and all for a discount.. always nice when that happens!

Halloween blog party

I had a very productive weekend - 9 layouts and 5 make and takes. Had a great time with my friend Sue - we have been wanting to get together for some time now {like, since last DECEMBER} and this weekend worked perfectly.

Saturday, we participated in a Crop for the Cure. Lots of prizes, lots of make and takes, several other people that I knew. Sunday was a crop/fundraiser for Sue's church. Sue and I definitely had the most stuff for that crop {ok, I did, LOL} Took a few pictures, but not too many - was too busy scrapping!

I'll post layouts eventually, but I don't have time this morning... back to work today!

Stuck?! 1st week sketch!

I am pretty excited about this Creative Team call. I really like using sketches as a starting point. Sometimes I make them pretty close to the sketch, other times I will just use a part of the sketch and make the rest my own.

I had some flower diecut paper from Colorbok, and I used that on top of a Clear Scraps XL shape for the floral layers.

Sneak Peek

I am too tired to post the whole thing tonight, but here is a sneak peek of the new album I finished for Clear Scraps. Tomorrow it is going to be sent to Denver for a show. I think this is one of my favorites. {It is a mix of the 6x6 acrylic and 6x6 chipboard tabbed albums}.

This week is the first week for the Stuck?! DT call... The first sketches were sent out today. W have until Monday to finish a layout and send it in. It is a cool website.. I love all the sketches they have. I'll post more about that tomorrow.

Beautiful Girl

June posted a challenge on AMR, as part of the September Photo of the Day challenge. The challenge was this: use 1 piece of cardstock, 1 piece of patterned paper, one non-scrappy item, and 3-5 eyelets. Embellishments must be made from the patterned paper. Chipboard could be used only if it was covered with the patterned paper. NO ribbons, NO minibrads, NO acrylic.. nothing else.

I chose these papers:

The patterned paper is from the My Mind's Eye Out & About shortstack with glitter. I cut out the glittered part, first with scissors, then with a craft knife. Applied pop dots to the back, then set it aside. {Not sure I would want to do this much cutwork again.. it took an hour or more just for that!}
Tore off the corner of the remaining PP scrap and inked it with StazOn Timber Brown ink. Once I decided where I wanted it and the photo to go, I marked on the cardstock, and cut a scrap out of the center. This is what I used for the letters. Once this was done the PP, photo, and cutwork were applied to the cardstock {which came out of my stash, so I am not sure which company it belongs to}.

Letters were stamped with StazOn and Techinique Tuesday's Eiffel Tower letters {I really really want to get the lowercase set}. Letters were cut out and edge distressed, and attached to the LO with pop dots.

The photo corner was made by punching first chipboard, then the patterned paper with the EK Success corner punch. The pieces put together, the edges were inked, and then the corner was adhered to the photo.

Holes were made for the eyelets using the Big Bite, but I had trouble lining them up afterwards, so I had to use my old eyelet tools. {LOL. Took me a while to find that little hammer, I haven't used it for so long.}

My something non-scrappy is the flower - it was originally a hair tie. I attached it with a bunch of glue dots.

{Incidentally, this is one of my favorite photos of Rhi.. I love the way she is peeking up from behind her flyaway hair.}

Finalist?!

I received an email tonight to let me know that the little butterfly birthday box that I made for the CSI contest... made it as a finalist! Wahoo!

Not bad for not having any cardstock, eh?

This little box was actually fun to make (once I figured out what I wanted to do!) I can easily see these being used for trinket boxes or place settings. Would make a fun little gift box too.

Voting starts at the CSI Website on Oct 13th.

Wow, how exciting... even if I don't win, just being a finalist is a great accomplishment!

The Accidental Demon Slayer, and a tough challenge

I just finished this new book, The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox. It is such a great book - one of those that I didn't want to put down until it was done!

She has a little quiz thing to find out what your Biker Witch name... Mine was Skullcap Sue Fancy Pants. {great name for a scrapper, eh?}

Had an interesting last few days. Janet asked me if I would do a challenge for the store. Sure, I said. Ok, can you get it done by Friday. Yeah, no problem. Heh. Wrong on that count..

The challenge was to use 2 baggies of supplied items. The only additional things you could use were on a very short list. My problem is they wanted Prism cardstock. Well, guess what. There is NO prism cardstock in NE MO. Or across the river in IL. And I had no time to order any online. Ok. So my good friend AnnCaryl, who was going to be in Columbia, offered to check there for Prism cardstock. Nope. No such luck. As I said, there is no Prism cardstock in NE Mo.

So I'm left with this:

The squares are 2x2, double sided. Otherwise, that's it. Can't add any other embellishments, can only use what's in these two bags, adhesive and cardstock. Any project using anything else would be immediately disqualified.

So last night after watching America's Got Talent, I sat at my desk and stared at this stuff. What the heck was I going to do? I had already played around with the butterflies.

I thought I wanted to make something dimensional. So I thought of making a box. Ok, that might be possible. Played around with it. Until I came up with this :

Harry Potter series What can I say? I love Harry Potter. Another book series I have been a huge fan of, I can't wait til the new movies come out!

Twister If I need a movie, and can't decide what else to watch, I usually will put this one in. Not entirely sure what it is about this movie, but I love it.

The Princess Bride What can I say? It's one of my favorites. And one of the ones I love to quote. "He didn't fall? INCONCEIVABLE!" "You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means."

Enough for now, I suppose LOL

I am excited to see what the new Twilight movie will bring... the previews look pretty accurate to the book, and I hope it is. This is one I want to see in the theatre (and I'm not one that goes often).
